THE FACELESS Announces New Drummer

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

Los Angeles-based progressive death metal titans THE FACELESS have released the following statement regarding the departure of their drummer of the past five years, Lyle Cooper:

“To clear the air on a few details, THE FACELESS has decided to part ways with drummer Lyle Cooper due to a growing difference in the level of commitment to the project. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and we’re sure he’ll continue to be successful with music. Having said that, we are very excited to announce that Alex Rudinger [THREAT SIGNAL, THE HAARP MACHINE] is our new full time drummer. We just played our first 3 shows with him in Mexico and what he brings to the band both musically and personally, is simply astounding. We are looking forward to a great future with Alex.”

THE FACELESS’s third full-length album, “Autotheism”, was issued on August 14, 2012 via Sumerian Records. The band’s first release in over three years saw the group’s leader, Michael Keene, enlist a new vocalist, bassist and additional guitarist to help him see his musical vision come to fruition and these new members have delivered tenfold.

FINNTROLL: New Album Title, Cover Artwork, Track Listing Unveiled

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

According to Metalfan.nl, Finnish metal marauders FINNTROLL have set “Blodsvept” as the title of their sixth album, due in Europe on March 25 via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2010’s “Nifelvind” was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki.

“Blodsvept” track listing:

01. Blodsvept
02. Ett Folk Förbannat
03. När Jättar Marschera
04. Mordminnen
05. Rösets Kung
06. Skövlarens Död
07. Skogsdotter
08. Häxbrygd
09. Tva Ormar
10. Fanskapsfylld
11. Midvinterdraken

Check out the cover artwork below.

In regards to the new album, FINNTROLL commented on their studio blog: “Combining our trademark sound with even more influences from non- traditional genres in metal music, we have created 11 songs which show you everything we want to offer. And boy, wasn’t that one of the hardest tasks for some time. After all, how do you keep your sound fresh, yet familiar, after 6 albums and 15 years?

“At some point, we were afraid that the songs are not melodic enough. Then we started to fear they became too melodic. Then we let the songs rest for a while and molded them more in a way that the non-melodic stuff got something to hum with, and the cheesy pop songs were arranged more stripped and aggressive. We were confident, yet sometimes scared what will people think of the stuff we’ve been doing so hard. What if they hate it? That would be fine, but if they would hate it because the material was uninspiring, boring and done-to-death, that would be a huge disappointment. So, we kept pushing and tried to keep it fresh all the time, while still having the ‘this has to be FINNTROLL because no other band sounds this insane’ — grinning going on.”

FINNTROLL in 2011 released a special tour edition of their latest album, “Nifelvind”. The digipak tour edition came with new artwork by the band’s guitarist, Skrymer, and an extra CD including three brand-new cover versions: “Insects” (OINGO BOINGO), “Can You Forgive Her?” (PET SHOP BOYS) and “The God That Failed” (METALLICA). The cover versions were recorded and mixed at Sonic Pump Studios between June 27, 2011 and July 4, 2011 by FINNTROLL and Nino Laurenne.

“Nifelvind” was released in North America on March 9, 2010 via Century Media Records.

ORANGE GOBLIN: ‘A Eulogy For the Fans – Orange Goblin Live 2012′ CD/DVD Trailer

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

Candlelight Records has set a March 12 North American release date for “A Eulogy For the Fans – Orange Goblin Live 2012”. The CD/DVD is the first proper live recording from ORANGE GOBLIN and will be released in tandem with the band’s first full stateside tour in over eight years. The special recording kicks off a planned year of non-stop touring and continues the success found in 2012.

Check out a trailer for the set below.

“A Eulogy For The Fans – Orange Goblin Live 2012” includes ORANGE GOBLIN’s complete performances professionally recorded at Bloodstock Open Air Festival (England – August 11, 2012) and Hellfest (France – June 15, 2012). The DVD further includes the official Tom Cronin-directed videos for “Red Tide Rising” and “Acid Trial”, the latter courtesy of Scion A/V, plus the Matt Chance-directed “Red Tide Rising” documentary and Gaetan Chataigner-directed “Highway To Hellfest” documentary. Art and design was once again provided by Jimbob Isaac under the direction of vocalist Ben Ward.

Discussing the album, Ward says: “For years, people have been asking us to release a live album. It’s a warts-and-all recording to highlight exactly what you get at an ORANGE GOBLIN show. It’s not over-produced; you can hear the bum notes and the forgotten lyrics as well as the energy and power emanating from the stage. And the crowd! I think that’s what a good live album is all about. It’s just the sound of us getting up on stage, plugging in and going hell for leather. Crack open a beer, turn it up loud and bang your head.”

“A Eulogy For the Fans – Orange Goblin Live 2012” features songs that span the band’s extensive repertoire, including fan favorites “Stand For Something”, “Scorpionica”, “Quincy The Pigboy”, “Blue Snow”, “Time Travelling Blues”, and the album’s single, “The Filthy & The Few”, which is set to impact loud rock radio on February 26.

ORANGE GOBLIN’s latest album, “A Eulogy For The Damned”, was released in February 2012 via Candlelight Records. The ten-track offering was recorded at The Animal Farm studio in South London, produced and engineered by Jamie Dodd and mastered two-time Grammy-nominated PINK FLOYD engineer Andy Jackson at Tube Mastering.

“A Eulogy For The Damned” was released on CD and limited-edition colored vinyl in gatefold sleeve.

Formed in 1995 (as OUR HAUNTED KINGDOM), ORANGE GOBLIN has released six full-length albums, developing an enthusiastic fan base that revels in the band’s aggressive sound built on “booze-sodden riffs and attitude.” Longtime label Rise Above Records has reissued the group’s super-heavy back catalog.

Finnish Death Overlords KRYPTS To Unleash Unending Degradation On February 19th Via Dark Descent Records

Easily one of the most anticipated Finnish death metal releases of this decade, Unending Degradation from Helsinki’s KRYPTS has been set for a February 19th release date on Dark Descent Records with vinyl treatment coming from Me Saco Un Ojo.

Festering in the underground since their inception in 2008, KRYPTS are prepared to set free their debut full-length. While the trademark KRYPTS’ sounds from the 2009 demo and 2011 EP are there (lumbering low-end, bone-crunching riffs and toxic vocals), Unending Degradation showcases a band which has honed their craft and is ready to deliver one of 2013’s must-have death metal releases.

The band is currently streaming the song “Open the Crypt” at krypts.bandcamp.com and a video preview for “Beneath the Archaic” is up at this location.

Pre-orders are now being taken at www.darkdescentrecords.com/store.
